"Does a Bear Sit in the Woods?"

Last week on Ravenwood Radio they mentioned the interview with Eric Bloom from the band Blue Oyster Cult.

I finally got the chance to go over and listen to the interviews this morning. I'm not sure if Stephen and Leesha got the link up on the RR site...I couldn't find it. But after listening to episode 18 again I got the URL and went and searched for it. There are two interviews there you can listen to. Both are great, but I enjoyed the first more because it did talk, in more detail, about the W101 quest that KI had in the Test Realm(and it sounds like that quest may be going live soon...maybe when some Celestia pre-questing is released soon) and I was just all "oh...YES!...I remember that!" I also remember not seeing but one other person trying it out. Everyone was just too busy playing with pets...but, there are the few of us who actually do love questing more and were looking and hoping for a little more adventure and then we stumbled across Snorri Oysterbloom's quest. According to the interview with Eric he did some of the voices for the NPC(s) in that quest....which makes it all even more interesting.

I don't know how many people actually tried that quest out who were in the test realm. If you did try it you probably found it was bugged. Hopefully KI are working on getting that ironed out because it really is a cute quest...and I really want to know what happens and where that quest goes. The quest is called "Does a Bear Sit in the Woods." I think most of you can guess where they were going with that title and see that it's a bit tongue-in-cheek. It should be a fun little quest when it gets brought into the Live realms.

If you haven't listened to the interview(s) yet here is a link to the page with both of them:

Catching Up...And Vampires Rise Again + More Changes Found!

Anyone who has read this blog for a while knows I am a fan of the show on SyFy, Merlin.
Last night the DVR decided to cut me off on it 16 minutes in, because it was too full. So I looked up my old, reliable source so I could watch what happened...since SyFy(for some unknown reason) doesn't have this show available in replay. I found that my old source has the BBC version and they are, of course, ahead of the U.S. So I was able to watch not only last night's episode, but also the two to come in the next couple weeks.

I have to say it is truly intense and Epic(and not in the silly, common "epic" sense that so many over use that word for now.) Things have really gotten interesting on that show, so I hope they can keep making it and having it on SyFy.

As I watched it I felt like I was slipping back into one of my Dragonlance books; where I could feel totally emersed in it to the point where one almost feels like they are at a renaissance festival and the sweet smell of incense fills the air, candles light rooms instead of electric lights, and people actually might remember what chivalry is and are polite to each other and welcoming....like stepping into a tavern of the time, sitting down with other travelers and listening to tales of their adventures, and sharing your own.

If you are into fantasy, castles, dragons, knights, magic(and I would guess you were somewhat into magic if you are reading a Wizard101 blog,) then you really should check out the next couple episodes of Merlin, on SyFy on Friday nights.

-----------------------------------------------------

I was able to get the Vampire Twins out for a bit tonight. I twas nice to go back and do some quiet 2-box play with the two lower level wizards. They finally got to do the Ironworks and have now finished Newgate Prison(along with side quests.) I found some new things on the quests too. At the Ironworks the door to where Pops O'Leary is hiding out now slides instead of disappears. Also, the quests "Street Sweeping," "Behind Bars," and "Thick with Thieves" now only require you to defeat 4 of each enemy, instead of 8. Boy, the newbies really got it easy these days, don't they? I mean slow robots, a way around part of the clockworks on Chelsea, shorter towers, and less enemies to defeat on the streets?...Wow, you new folks got it made! One bad thing about it; you are going to have to go back and defeat a lot more enemies to get badges...if you want the badges...cause now you are not forced to have to defeat so many enemies! Also, it may slightly alter the timing of certain events and levels due to not earning quite as much XP from battles. I know,
I know; you don't earn much XP from battles, but every little bit counts too!

One other little thing I notice: now when you level up not only does your pet energy top out again, but so does mana(not just health)!

I also had a weird glitch happen. I had Esmee go into battle and had Val port in and when he did his screen froze up, so I had to shut it down. When I started it back up and Val was back in action, his health crystal was all messed up looking....as if he had died...and he obviously hadn't. Also, I don't know if this is new...because I haven't died in forever...but I was told earlier today that the crystal cracks when you die. Here you can also see that the crystal is cracked as well as the numbers are all messed up....

Another little bug that seems to be happening is people freezing in a running motion when they go into battle. Below here you can see John Lifeglen frozen, and below that you can see Fallon Deathslinger frozen too...

There have also been a lot of weird stat bugs. Below is one(sort of random here) that I had one day. I can't remember what happened before I saw this, but it was just weird, take a look at Keira's resistance there....
And for you number junkies; do you notice something funny about those negative numbers in both Keira's resistance and in Val's cracked globe? It's the same pattern of numbers
(-214748...and possibly continues to 36 and so on.) I wonder where that comes from?

Maybe with the Shadow Weavers of Celestia coming it is appropriate that we have these type of bugs as well...but at least these ones are fun/funny. I am not looking forward to seeing giant bugs walking the streets in a place that should have been beautiful. I will hope it's not THAT BAD. I really don't need more ugly and boring worlds like DS.

A Time of Chaos and Discovery

Well, I woke up way late this past day so I really didn't get much fun game time.
The Ravenwood Ball happened earlier and it was just insane. I have never seen that many people at an event. I hung around for most of it, though I can't say I was exactly having the time of my life there. It was too hard to even keep up with anything one person said without having to at least whisper...and then hope they saw that message before it went out of their chat window(if they even keep their window open.)

I had to finally leave the event because I was actually kinda bored with it. They really need some form of party entertainment for Wizard, because standing there watching a sea of names and listening to the same old music and text popping sounds...while people spam things that are almost creepy or are just silly...well, it wasn't really that entertaining for me. I would rather be off training pets, or questing, or farming pets and loot. I am not even sure if I can call that a very "social" event...it's not like you could really converse with anyone around you..not like at a real party.

I did meet a few people there I hadn't had the opportunity to yet, so that was one good thing. Also the compliments on my outfit from Stephen and Leesha, of Ravenwood Radio, were very nice to hear. Here is a pic of me in case anyone didn't get to see my outfit:

...and as I had said in my last post: I look a bit like I could be Merlin's daughter...and now you also know what color my hair is...haha!

I didn't take a lot of pictures because I was on the phone with mom, whom I made attend the party...so I cauld actually talk to someone instead of the way it usually is. Plus I was trying to wort of listen to the livestram as well as move about...which wasn't easy with that many people there.
The party eventually moved to Fallon Shadowblade's Storm House too, so I have one pic from there, as well as in Ravenwood:

I did get a tiny bit of fun time in tonight. I went back with my other Storm wizard, Danielle, to farm for the Storm Cat...she finally got one for herself.
Then I took her over to Fleshrender to farm for the Mustard Troll. I think it took only 2-3 tries before I got it....ugly pet, but I will give it to my Myth wizard. I will post a pic of it when it hatches.

So, I finally got to get the twins out a little tonight. They are on Chelsea Court right now, and they have made a discovery!

For all those who hated my beloved gearheads; you have won. They now move so slow they look like they are in slow motion....which has taken away any challenge presented in crossing these roof tops. AND, not only that; they also have a new ramp in place that lets you completely bypass the first three roof tops of gearheads. Check out the video below of Esmee and Valerian as they show you the changes.

...heh, I sorta forgot to mention that the roof top that Val is on was not accessible before the updates. Now, unless you NEED to fight gearheads , you don't even have to go through that area.
The Gearheads on the other rooftops there are just as slow, though you do, at least, have to go through that area(no cheating lol), but they are so incredibly slow I can't imagine how anyone could get caught by them now. I actually think they slowed them down too much. I always liked the way they seemed so manic and were a bit unpredictable. There was a technique for traveling around them that the new generations of wizards will never have to worry about...unless KI would change it again.

It makes me wonder about Kensington though. I wonder if the golems in there are still as fast as ever? If they have slowed those too, which I would be really surprised if they did, then it would be a relatively easy dungeon to get through...though still hard at the level you can get the quest, with all the monsters having much higher health than other MB mobs. Makes me want to take another Kensington run soon...my old Grand Death needs to go next time. I am not sure who will accompany her....that will be a project for me in the near(ish) future ;-)

Until next time...
